Silver Desert Yule Feast |
Here is the Menu (including recipes) from the Silver Desert
Yule Feast.
I wanted to do something a little bit different; I wanted a fully documented,
period feast.
Also, instead of having a dessert course at the very end, when everyone was
full and couldn't enjoy
it, I served a "sweet" at the end of each course. It seemed to work out really
well, and many
people appreciated not being loaded up with sweets at the very end.
The recipes came from Forme of Cury; Sallets, Humbles &
Shrewsbury Cakes; and An Ordinance
of Pottage. Many of the recipes were taken from book redactions, then altered
to suit how I personally
read the original recipes. I have put up my altered redactions on this site,
since that is what was served.
I would like to greatly thank the website
"A Boke of Gode Cookery"
as that is where I found the recipes.
The Begin was served at 6pm sharp, Course 1 was served 30
minutes later, Course 2 was
served 45 minutes after that, and Course 3 was served 1 hour 15 minutes after
that. That
gave the guests time to socialize and digest.
